Last year 2010 brought both positive news (audience growth, further socialization of services, solidarity of Internet entrepreneurs) and upheavals to the Ukrainian Internet. What is the value of the "information war" that began with the adoption of the Tax Code, which sometimes "deleted" Internet entrepreneurship from preferential taxation, and then canceled these changes. The editors of BIZ.liga.net asked the experts of the Internet market which events in Ukraine became significant for 2010, as well as what awaits the online business in the new year 2011. The topic was forecasts and trends for the Internet registration market, Internet advertising and online commerce. Deputy Chairman of the Internet Association of Ukraine (IAU) Oleksandr Olshanskyi: "For the domestic Internet market, the event of the past year is the fact that the threshold of 33% has been passed, i.e. already one third of the adult population of Ukraine are Internet users. This is exactly the value from which it starts rapid growth of Internet advertising and everything else, because advertising money is decisive in the Internet.
This event did not come as a surprise, it was absolutely clear that it would take place, but due to the crisis, it was delayed by a year. (That is, we expected it to happen at the end of 2009, but it happened in 2010). If we talk about the registrar market, I would call the most important thing in 2010 the fact that for the first time in the last 10 years it was possible to reach some kind of consensus between the Italy Phone Number List registrars and "Hostmaster", to change some domain rules. But the point is not in the introduction of these domains, but in the fact that for the first time it was done according to a clear, more or less transparent procedure. I would like to believe that there will be more of these kinds of solutions in 2011, because there are quite a few problems that need to be solved.
